Carter Curby is a former point guard who recently completed his first year at prep school after leading Grandview Heights Secondary to the BC Provincial Championships. Known for his leadership, basketball IQ, playmaking ability, and shooting, Carter brings valuable high-level playing experience to the court.
As a coach, Carter creates a positive and supportive environment while helping athletes develop their ball handling, shooting, decision-making, confidence, and overall understanding of the game. His focus is on player development, fundamentals, and fostering a strong work ethic both on and off the court.
Coach Rowan Gilbert - Providence University
We’re excited to announce that Rowan Gilbert will be joining our coaching staff for the 2026 Spring/Summer season!
Rowan, a 2023 graduate of Grandview Heights Secondary, has been part of the BC Elite family since 2021. During his high school career, he served as team captain for two seasons (Grades 11 & 12) and had a standout senior year, averaging 27.8 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 5.3 steals per game.
Currently, Rowan is competing in his final year of university basketball at Providence University College in Manitoba. He’s excited to bring his playing experience, leadership, and passion for the game to the next generation of BC Elite athletes this summer.
Coach Harp gill
Coach Harp Gill grew up in Toronto, Ontario, where he played high school basketball at Rick Hansen Secondary School, winning two city championships. He continued his playing career at University of Toronto Mississauga before transitioning into coaching, spending two seasons as a Junior Varsity head coach.
After relocating to British Columbia, Coach Harp quickly made an impact on the youth basketball landscape. He has coached teams to multiple AAU championships against elite competition across Canada and the United States, including most recently on the Adidas 3SGB circuit. He is also a two-time Champion at Basketball Nationals, winning it at the U14 & U18 Platinum level.
In 2019, as an assistant coach at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School, he helped guide the program to its first-ever Provincial Championship—also Surrey’s first major boys basketball championship in 40 years. The following season, the team captured the 2020 RCMP Championship after finishing as finalists the year prior, adding to a growing list of achievements during his tenure.
In 2022, Coach Harp led his U15 team to a perfect 11-0 season, winning the BCBAA Gold Championship. Two years later, in 2024, he guided the senior boys team at Grandview Heights Secondary School to a 25-9 record, earning the school its first provincial ranking and a Provincial Tournament berth in just its third year of existence.
As a skills trainer, Coach Harp specializes in developing players through shooting, finishing, ball handling, passing, decision-making, and overall basketball IQ—blending his playing experience with years of successful coaching at multiple levels.
